As a former marketing manager who became ill with glandular fever I looked at a new outlook in life, long term I would have children, so what job could I retrain to do for when they arrived?  At the time I thought teaching would be the answer.  Don't get me wrong I loved teaching at primary level, it taught me so much - but when I fell pregnant with my first daughter Bailey (who is now 8) i knew I couldn't return full or part-time. 

I set up http://www.precious-memories.co.uk at first as a hobby, as I was one of those lucky people who didn't have to return to work straight away, but over time interest in my products grew to reach nationwide sucess, so i looked to franchise it out. 

Now as a mum with two young children I was very realistic in that alot of franchises ask for as much as £15k to set up.  How many have that amount of money these days and if they did would they want to invest all of it in a franchise, given rising costs in fuel, food and now childcare costs as highlighted tonight in a recent programme  Panorama - The Cost of Raising Britain.

Taking all of this on board I am delighted to say that http://www.precious-memories.co.uk has a growing number of predominantly mums (but dads would be welcome) joining the company offering our stunning range of 3d Casts, 2d Impressions, Belly Bump Castings, Silver Fingerprint Jewellery, for all members of the family.  Gorgeous memorable keepsakes for birthdays, christenings, weddings and christmas delight families and more and more are including their pets too!

So what do we charge?  The initial fee is £1,000 plus VAT however, I recgonise that this is still a large sum of money to many so offer a payment plan.  £600 up front with £100 in 6 montly payments.

So what makes the franchise appealing?  There is very little risk, investment is low with payment schemes, 24 hour support, fun and the growing appeal - the ability to have your children with you.  When you go to market your franchise, you may be visiting a local NCT group or toddler group, so your child can go along with you - therefore no childcare costs!
